CASE #206: Massive amounts of spam e-mail infiltrating a small-business computer network

OUR CHALLENGE
Building relationships is extremely important to commercial real estate broker, John T. Arnold Associates Inc. So when their clients started questioning spam from an e-mail address that appeared to be a John T. Arnold associate, the company knew they needed to upgrade their network security. 
Maintaining a multi-desktop computer network has become increasingly difficult for John T. Arnold’s internal support person who was splitting technology responsibility with other office functions. The growing firm looked to High Touch to manage multiple facets of the day-to-day technology problem solving and network management. 

THE HIGH TOUCH SOLUTION
High Touch assessed John T. Arnold’s servers and computers, and discovered their virus protection had allowed viruses, spam and spyware to breach the internal network. Removing these problems from individual PCs and servers became first priority. By installing an anti-virus application that updates automatically, the system is able to catch the latest, most sophisticated breach attempts.

In addition, all e-mail now filters through High Touch’s security program, which assesses incoming messages for possible spam. Spam summaries with suspicious e-mails are sent to the client’s in-box as frequently as requested. High Touch’s support engineers are an integral part of the John T. Arnold Associates team, working with employees and providing monthly upkeep that ensure the company’s technology is running smoothly and incident-free.  

PROVEN RESULTS
With the anti-virus application in place, nearly 95% of incoming spam is now filtered and removed before entering John T. Arnold’s network. Their brokers continue to comment positively on the increased speed of their operating systems. Since the conversion to High Touch, John T. Arnold’s server has functioned with no downtime.
